Nettas Hus II: Pavillion

The project consist of the renovation and expansion of an institutional building from the 1920’s in Dypvåg, Tvedestrand on the south coast of Norway. The site changes from elderly home to resort. The main building will be extended by a garden pavilion housing a fitness room and sauna. A pool with sun deck sits over a gym hall and changing rooms, the gym hall and a multi-purpose sports field will be accessible for the local community replacing these facilities in a nearby school facing potential demolition.Added programs are compressed into the terrain to allow for the historic house to sit proud on a plinth that steps down with terraces and paths through a walled garden. The pavilion takes its cues from 1920’as bathhouses and classical orangeries, providing a glazed facade towards the south and picture windows to the north framing the rock face.
